I have volunteered to tell a story about Martina's trip - die Route von der Vogesentour - in English. The group did not want me to write in Schwitze Ditch, but specifically in English. Now you understand why I write in English.
What do I remember best from the tour: cheese and kartoffeln. Twice we enjoyed great abend essen of cheese with few peaces of green salad (it was called salad however), and hot cheese with potatoes (it was called the potatoes dish). This delicious food of Vogesen gave us a lot of calcium and potassium which is essential to be strong and happy.
Kartoffeln were great. So was the weather. First day - Kruth- Cascades St. Nicolas- Haut de Felsach- Tete du chat Sauvage- Le grand Ventron- Refuge de la Chaume: we did not have much choice - it was just sunny all day long. Second day - efuge de la Chaume- Col de Bramont- le Rainkopf- Le Honeck- Auberge Pied du Honeck: gave us some choice: a bit of rain, a bit of wind, a bit of sun. And, the third day - Auberge Pied du Honeck- Lac de Schiessrothried- Lac de Fischbödele- Metzeral: was wonderful because we had so much sunshine in our hearts. We had to because it was just pouring outside - heavy rain that we felt down to our bones.
This tour of great food and weather was enhanced by a wonderful company - the Vogesen Engels - 10 beautiful ladies led by the Berg Chef Martina. Martina was good to us - we could sleep long, hike slowly, take our breaks and talk to each other whether walking up or down. I just loved this tour, and would recommend it to anybody who loves kartoffeln:-)
